I have decided that I need to reinstate Weight Loss Wednesdays. I used to do this regularly but stopped quite awhile ago and now the scale is indicating it needs to begin again! So, I think what I need to do is start with making some goals, little ones that are attainable, and then reporting back here every Wednesday.
Goals for this week:
* Will not eat out for lunch more than once
* Will bring healthy lunch and a snack
* Will try to eat breakfast
* Will fit in some sort of exercise and cleaning the office does not count!
* Will drink more water
Okay, I think that's pretty good! I'll report back next Wednesay and let you know how it goes! Anyone else want to join in??? I'm mostly doing this to hold myself accountable, but sometimes it helps to have others to support you.

WLW
Okay, fine. I have a confession. I do something. How do I explain it? Like if something is popular, for some reason I don't want anything to do with it. Like when Harry Potter first came out, I was like "whatever." And, then the first movie just happened to be playing at a friends house while I was over and I saw it and I was like, "dude." Now it's one of my favorite book series, ever. I did the same thing with Twilight. Seriously. I don't know why I do this really, but I do and it drives me a little crazy about myself. Not sure why I even felt like sharing that, but there, it's out there.
So, it looks as if Weight Loss Wednesday on Jen's blog maybe be coming to a halt. Seems that there have only been a few peeps participating and what not. I have to admit that at first I was like, well then I won't keep up with it. But, then I realized that I would not be accountable to anyone but myself and let's face it - I let myself get away with a ton of stuff! I wouldn't be overweight if I didn't. So I'm thinking I'll keep posting at least once a week (about weight loss) even if it isn't particularly on a Wednesday. This week I did not lose anything, um, except the water weight that I had gained from last week. Last week I went to spin 3 days, this week I went tonight and am signed up for tomorrow. Tomorrow, I must admit, is a little iffy just because we have a 7am clinic start time and frankly, but the end of the day I'm dragging - esp since I am sooo not a morning person!
Does anyone have any fabulous plans for this long weekend???

Wednesday already?
Boy, this week went by fast! Not much to report in the way of weight loss. I gained some water weight this week, but I know by the end of the week it will be gone so I'm not worried. I went to spin class last night and again tonight. I didn't make it at all last week so this week it's kicking my butt, which is a good thing :) I had a total pasta-fest last night, I don't know what came over me! And, while I'm confessing here I might as well admit that I also had one of those new Milky Ways that is just caramel and chocolate AND a full-calorie cherry coke. I think these little cravings are exactly what got me in this mess to begin with! I know that sometimes you have to let a little indulgence so I'm just not going to make it a habit.
So, how is everyone else doing??? You can see others' progress and join in if you'd like at Jennifer's blog Rosey Little Things.

so I have good news to report! 3lbs down from last week and that makes 40lbs total so far!!!!! Ca-razy. So, since last week I've lost 1/2 inch from my waist and 1 inch from my hips and butt. Today I got to wear a pair of capris that I couldn't get into at all last year, so I'm v. happy with that!
Last night was our "literary circle" meeting. It was cool - I'm having so much fun hearing everyone else's take on what we've read. It's funny because all of us have either read ahead a bunch or finished the first book so we were joking that next time we'd be reading a book every other week instead of 5 chapters!
Even though it's only Wednesday I'm looking forward to the weekend and getting some sewing done! I have started on a little embroidery project that I am going to make into a pillow that I think will be cute so I hope to finish that. Also, I've had a request for a kindle cover and I'm super flattered that anyone would want me to make something for them!
How is your week going???

This week I can really tell a difference in my body. I have lost a 1/2 inch from my waist and 2 inches from my hips (yay!). Total lbs lost for the week: 1. I've been trying to cut calories from a day overall - like if I eat something higher cal at lunch then have a smaller dinner or more veggies or something. Hydration is seriously key. Usually on the weekend I'm not as good at drinking water, but I found that I just don't like the chlorine flavor of city water. So, my simple remedy, (which I'm sure if just more of a placebo than actual official remedy) is to put water in a jug in the fridge. It seems to taste less chlorine-y that way. Pop over to Jennifer's blog to see how everyone else is doing :)

what's happening wedneday
And here we are again at another Wednesday! This week was better, I've lost the water weight plus 1 lb. So, still on track! Not much gym time this week, but it's okay - I'm totally hydrating and eating better.
I donated blood tonight after work, and almost lost it. Right at the end I started to feel a little spinny and yuck. I think I totally freaked the ladies there out - sorry Red Cross ladies! The little lawn chair things you sit on came in handy, though. They elevated my legs and put my head down. I'm sure I was quite a sight! And, I heard them talking about me while I was in "cookie land". That was kind of weird.....but whatever.
Last night was the second meeting of our book club. I've decided I'm renaming it as "Literature Circle", it just sounds so much more sophisticated :) I did not come up with that term on my own, wish I did darn it! It's good, right? I think the best thing about last night was realizing that I am so not the only book nerd out there, hee hee! And it's funny how we all can read the same exact thing and have such a different perspective. Of course, it is a Christian book club so everyone was getting all this God stuff out of the book. While I was reading the whole time I was thinking how similar the book is to pretty much every other kind of book I've ever read - a little less detail in the "relationship" area if you know what I mean but seriously there's violence, sorcery, betrayal, drama, you name it. The only difference is the emphasis of the main character's faith. But, truly, if it didn't have that then it would be no different then any "secular" book. I am totally enjoying the book, it is very well written. I had not even heard of the author (Francine Rivers) before the club started and I really like her style, it's easy to read and the characters are engaging. I also really like all the detail of what life was like in 70AD, she's painting a really good picture - easy to visualize what's going on.

Are you kidding me?
What I'm saying is: brrrrrrr! Seriously, this is what I woke up to, white everywhere! I should've known from last night after spin class the clock on the bank said 37 degrees and it had been raining off and on all day. I guess I just didn't even think about it. Last weekend it was like 70 degrees! I thought, maybe, just maybe it's going to be Spring......guess not yet.
My day did get a little brighter though because I received two beautiful bouquets of flowers today! One from my friend Jan, pink tulips, and the other from the two doctors I work for! So nice. In case you're wondering, it's Administrative Professionals day today - I didn't realize it either until Jan said that's why she was giving me flowers! ha, ha, I didn't even know - what an even better surprise!
Okay, since it's Wednesday I'll mention that I didn't lose any weight, in fact I gained but I know it's all water. So, I'm not worried. I attempted spin class but barely made it through because my tummy was kind of yucky. Same today so I'm not even going to try. I'll get back to it when I've got my strength back. You can always join in the Weight Loss Wednesday if you'd like, just let Jennifer know and she'll add you to the list! I think it's been helpful to keep me on track because I know I've got to report something!

WLW 4-14-10

So I have some great news! I am down 4lbs!!!! What??? 4!!!!! I thought for sure it was a fluke when I weighed in on Monday, but today when I checked it's stayed the same so I think it's really true! I worked out 4 nights last week and was really good about hydration. This past weekend was Jan's daughters birthday and I did have cake and a hot dog (gasp!) but I was really good every other meal so I think it all evened out. This week has not been good for getting to the gym but Monday after work I did my pilates dvd. Last night I started a new book club so didn't get home until later so no working out. Tonight is spin fo sho! I'm just going to have to do the eliptical every night the rest of the week or if the weather is nice I'll try to get outside!
How is everyone else doing???

WLW
So, the lesson for this week is hydration! I'm still holding onto a couple of pounds of water weight. This past weekend was the concert in Portland and since it's an all day event I did not hydrate very well at all. We got to the Rose Garden at 8 am to get in line because it was just pay at the door and we also wanted to get seats on the floor. The line was a little bit crazy. And the line for the restroom was equally crazy, like an hour wait to get in! We walked quite a bit a few blocks down the street and across the freeway to use the facilities and also for lunch and coffee. So, I did get some exercise and that was good.
My goal for this week is to get rehydrated. I think I will see those pounds go away with that. Went to spin last night and will tonight. Tomorrow's work is schedule is pretty much cuckoo so I don't think I'll make it to class so I'm planning to go for the eliptical at least.
So, how exciting is it that we have new participants??? I think it's super cool that we have more people joining in! Pop over to Jen's blog and check everyone out and leave an encouraging comment :)

Weight Loss Wednesday
Not as bad as I thought this week but I did gain. So, Jen lost 1/2 lb and I found it! :) It's okay though because I know that I'm holding onto some water this week. My goal for this week since the doctor I work for is out of the office was to go to spin class an extra day on Monday. When we have patients I rarely make it out in time to get to the Monday class. I actually got caught up talking to someone so didn't make it this week either! But I did go to the gym anyways and do the eliptical. For some reason I feel like that is harder sometimes than spin??? Am I crazy? Okay, but don't answer that really....I did spin last night and will be tonight and tomorrow as well. Wednesday, March 17, 2010

I have good news to report today! I am down 2lbs!!!! Ya-hooooo :) The other good news is that there's 1 inch off of my waist and hips. My clothes are getting looser and looser. I'm kind of up in the air about buying new clothes now. I don't really want to spend the money I think. But, if they get much looser I will either have to buy new clothes or alter what I've got. It's just that I have a lot to lose so I don't want to be constantly buying new clothes and sizes and stuff.
So, last week I made it to spin class on Tuesday and Wednesday. I did sign up for Thursday but didn't get out of work until 6:30 and the class starts at 6! I did the elyptical on Saturday for 1/2 hour instead. It was nice because there was nooooo one at the gym on Saturday so I had my pick of machines. And I made sure to drink water at home this weekend.
I'm hoping the rest of the ladies have done well this week as well! You can pop over to Jenn's blog to see who's participating, or if you want to join in you're welcome to!

Weight Loss Wednesday
Here's my equation for the week:
cheetos + movie popcorn + only 1 spin class last week + not enough hydration = 1lb weight gain!!!!!
I'm definitely going to spin 3 times this week and I have been drinking TONS of water. Salt is bad. It is not my friend.

I thought for sure that I had sabotaged myelf over the weekend.....I had a small buttered popcorn at the movies, tons of white rice and some candy. I guess that it was all okay though, because I am down another pound today! That brings my total to 27 lbs lost. I still have a ways to go, but that's okay! I didn't go to spin last night because I've been feeling crummy and like I'm getting sick. I'm kind of up in the air about going tonight since I still feel sort of yucky. In other news, I passed my CPR recertification today! Ya-hooo! I get so stinkin nervous for tests that I thought I might not. It was so much easier this time though since it was a recert. I didn't kill my mannequin so that's good!

I am stuck as well, same as Jennifer. I have stayed the same as last week, at least I did not gain! I did go spin 3 times last week, and added an abs class Thursday night. I know I really should go back to the abs class again this week but not sure I'm brave enough. There was a giant ball involved and frankly I'm not that coordinated! LOL, but I might try again.....we'll see.

Inspiration
I know, I know! Two posts in one day? What in the world! But, I wanted to share one of my "inspiration" dresses. I was digging through my fabric stash this weekend and I unearthed this dress. I know, the zipper is atrocious! I've always hated to put in zippers, especially without a zipper foot! And button holes....but anyways! I made it in high school and I've held onto it all these many moons because I love the fabric. And always in the back of my mind thought, maybe some day it will fit again. I have two such dresses. I'll get a pic of the other one later. What else is funny about this dress is that I still have the vintage pattern that I made it from....from 1973. I'm fairly sure that I bought it at a yard sale that my Mom would have dragged me to. Back in the day I HATED yard sales and thrift stores or any such thing! Loathed them. But, now, that's all a different story :)
Weight Loss......ummm Thursday?
Whoops! I didn't get my post done yesterday...sort of forgot all about it! But, if I had posted yesterday I would have posted that I have held the same, no weight lost. Since I'm posting today, though, I can happily share that I am down 1lb!!!! Last week I only went to spin 2 times and didn't get to the gym any other days because I was feeling crummy. This week I'm back on track - I went to spin Tuesday and last night and am signed up for tonight. Tonight I am also intending on trying an abs class. Linde goes to it and she said it kills, so that might be just what I need!
If you'd like to join in on Weight Loss Wednesday, you are more than welcome to, no matter how much you need to lose! Pop over to Jennifer's blog to sign up!

Weight Loss Wednesday - snack ideas
Oh man, can I please tell you that I almost forgot to post this Weight Loss Wednesday??! All morning I thought it was the 4th, and then all afternoon I was behind....so it hit me right after spin class tonight that it's WEDNESDAY! and I get to share that I lost another pound! It hit me also today that with that pound lost I have officially lost 25lbs (!) since I started to try and lose weight in October. Ya-frickin-hooooooo! I do still have a looooong way to go, but I'm happy to be that far in my journey. It's funny because I think that in the past I have gotten to this point where I'm seeing some progress but I have gotten frustrated by the amount I have to lose and give up. This time though, I have a distinct goal - so many cute dresses I want to wear! (And yes, Kristin, I know that technically I could wear them now - but it wouldn't look cute right now)
My friend Brooke noticed today that I had lost weight, I haven't seen her in a couple of weeks. That was nice to have someone else notice also. All the ladies I work with are super supportive, they always have something encouraging to say as well. And, it's nice to know that in the blog community there are others working towards goals alongside me :)
Jennifer was saying in her post that she was looking for some low-cal snacks. I am a huge fan of the 94% fat free microwave popcorn. I also enjoy the 100 calorie snacks that are pre-packaged - I usually get something cookie-ish because I have a sweet tooth! I also like to get sugar free jello and make a big batch and then pour them into the 1 or 2 cup sized gladware containers as I'm making them. One regular size package I think is 40 calories for the entire box, so when you divide it up as you're making it then each 1 cup thing is only 10 calories! And it's fat free. That's like nothing practically. What else I like to do (and this could be something everyone in the entire world knows but I didn't until last year when I saw my friend Sherry, who used the most fit person ever do it)......big breath for that run on sentence! Okay - when I buy celery I immediately clean it up, chop it up and put it in a tupperware in water. Then, I can just grab it and eat it conveniently! I was surprised exactly how much I really do like celery! Sometimes I'll dip it in a little fat free italian dressing ( I hate ranch) and that gives a little zing.

Weight Loss Wednesday
I can't believe it's already another Wednesday! I'm down 1lb, which is good! I was kind of hoping I would have lost more, because I was really good last week. I went to spin 3 days and did the eliptical one night. But, maybe I'm just getting super buff, right? *grin*
So, I've got some sad news - the yarn store is closing! I got an email last week that if there wasn't a buyer by March 21st then it will be closing and in the meantime everything is 50% off. So of course I went in on Saturday to check out the sale and it was packed to the gills in there! Literally, there was like half the stock left! I'm wondering if they will even make it to the end of this month??? Crazy.

Weight loss Wednesday
Oh, this is good! I am down 4.5 lbs from last week!!! Ya-hooo! I knew I was holding onto a bunch of water last week but was fitting into smaller clothes so I figured something was up (or down as the case may be)! So, I am encouraged! Last week I went to spin class twice and twice did the elyptical machine. This week I was planning to spin 4 days but Monday I didn't get out of work in time to make it to class so I just did the elyptical for 40 minutes.
I hope everyone else had a great week also!
