Superchick!!!!!

I am so excited about tonight! Superchick is actually coming to our little town! My husband (so far) has actually agreed to go with me, I have not divulged that the church youth group will also be there. That sounds terrible, but as we don't have kids sometimes being around large numbers of kids/tweens/teenagers can get a little overwhelming. But, I love Superchick so I'm really looking forward to it! We are going to have a box overlooking the stage with my friends Kristin and Sherry so that should be pretty cool, too! We may or may not be going to sushi beforehand, that will depend on what time he gets off work and how dirty he is. So, pretty much tonight will be cool.

I forgot....

This was the second incarnation of the felt chicks! I forgot about them in the last post. In the future I'd like to figure out a way to have some legs they can stand on (possibly painted dowels or sticks?) or maybe some telescoping legs. Not sure but I love their feather hair! Also, a funny story- The first set I had glued the mouths shut and I was teasing my husband that his was shut because he never talks to me - and when I went to put the boy one next to the girl one the glue on the mouth of the girl one had some undone and was wide open like she was just blabbing and blabbing! Hmmmm, I guess that would be art (crafts) imitating life!

To catch up....

Okay, so this is sort of a craft shout out! I have been perusing various blogs and getting inspiration from them for my own household crafts. In no particular order -

These little chicks I saw a similar chick done at the Monkeybox blog and thought they were sooooo cute....

and so I embellished them a teensy bit and stuck them on the piano. My husband said he liked them because they reminded him of that painting of the farmer and the wife holdin the pitchfork! LOL

And the banner is a little trickier - I've seen them all over! So, I know that I can thank Jen from Rosey Little Things fo sho! The trim at the top came out a little crooked but I'm not too picky at my house. I did make it reversible without letters on the other side in case I want to keep using it in another season beside Spring. I was also contemplating making one in patriotic colors for Summer.....

This box of goodies was sent to me by my Mom! She saves all of the wedding sections of my hometown and sends them to me so that I can see if anyone I know has gotten married. And tucked in the box are TONS of vintage scraps of fabric! And a bag of ribbon and such. It will be fun to make some sort of project - but as of late have not figured anything out yet.

This is a flower brooch that I made - it took me for-ever to figure the pattern out! I found the pattern at knitting pattern central or something like that. The yarn was variegated so I didn't have to switch colors or anything. I had yarn leftover from a little teddy bear cardigan that I had knitted from a pattern from super cute Wee Wonderfuls for my friend Jan's daughters build a bear. Talk about a run-on sentence I know! I did not take a pic of the sweater, sorry. But it turned out cute!
This was also a super exciting package that I received in the mail from Stephanie DosReis over at A Little Deer.....so cool! She had posted a contest on her blog and I was one of three winners to receive a whole line of scrapbooking paper! Everything was tres fab! LOVE it! National Scrapbooking day is coming up 5-3-08 and you know I will be putting these papers to good use!

New Shades

What a surprise! Ruxandra, the doctor I work with took us out for lunch today for Administrative Professionals Day. So, we went to the Thai place downtown, and right next door to the Thai place is a cute little resale clothing shop called Periwinkle. Jan trolled over there while we were waiting for our food. I went over to fetch her when the appetizers arrived and she had found these ab fab sunglasses that must have been made just for me! I seriously love my very silly pink sunglasses!

I did contemplate wearing them the rest of the day, but as I work in a doctors office it would probably not be appropriate.....oh how I love them!

first blog

I don't really have much to say right now, I'm sure I will think of more later. I just wanted to get started.
